PROPERTY DESCRIPTION

Situated in the centre of the village of Beddgelert in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, Plas Colwyn is an elegant, stone-built, detached house which retains many original features and has been welcoming visitors to the area since the early 1800's. This beautiful Grade II listed building is set in extensive grounds with parking, gardens and patio areas for guests to enjoy.

Located in the heart of the village amidst glorious mountain scenery and overlooking the river, the house is ideally situated for those seeking a family holiday, quiet escape or outdoor activity break. You enter the ‘plas’ (or mansion in Welsh) through a bright entrance hall with stripped pine floor, off which is a cosy lounge with wood burning stove and dining room where up to 22 people can eat together.

The house has a well equipped farmhouse style kitchen, with dishwashers, fridges, freezer, and a electric cooking range with a large oven and 6 ring hob. There is a further living room which acts as a games/TV area and 2 bathrooms both with over the bath showers. A light and airy garden room opens onto the rear decked areas and is overlooking the hillside garden. Cot, highchair and stairgate are all available. There is ample parking for 7/8 cars.

Possibly Snowdonia’s most charming village, Beddgelert’s history allegedly dates back to 700 AD when the area was settled by Christian missionaries. The village has enjoyed immense popularity with tourists- particularly walkers and mountaineers- since the early Victorian period.

With its central location in the village, Plas Colwyn is conveniently situated close to all the local amenities including the village store, a post office, three pubs, several restaurants and cafés and an award-winning ice cream parlour. The traditional stone buildings nestle beneath the surrounding mountains with two rivers, the Colwyn and the Glaslyn, converging in the village making it one of the most picturesque in North Wales.

Attractions in the village include the Grave of Gelert (the legendary dog which saved the son of Prince Llewelyn) and the Sygun Copper Mine. The property is also an ideal base for walking and climbing in Snowdonia and mountain biking in Beddgelert’s forest.

With the beautiful beaches of Criccieth and Llyn Peninsula a short drive away, the Ffestiniog and Snowdon Mountain Railways within easy reach, the house is perfectly situated for those keen to explore the many attractions of North Wales including Port Merion, Caernarfon and Porthmadog.

There are plenty of walks from the village, both easy and challenging, and a short climb/scramble up the “neverending” garden is an adventure in itself, with stunning views of the village, Snowdon, the surrounding valleys and - on a clear day - Porthmadog, literally “on the doorstep”.

The property is a short drive from a number of golf courses – Porthmadog (8 miles), Caernarfon (13miles) and Criccieth (11 miles). There are many outdoor activities within easy reach and for those who want competition paintballing and clay pigeon shooting is within reach. Finally for those who want a day on the beach there are the fabulous Blue Flag beaches of Criccieth just a 20 minute drive away.
