The Towers

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION

The Towers is a substantial Harbour Master's mansion (for a harbour that was never made), and was built by John Platt in 1872. Built in a Gothic chateau style and on a grand scale of over 5000 square feet, it has recently been refurbished to an excellent standard by the Amazing Places to Stay team.

Located yards from the beach, this detached property boasts flexible accommodation sleeping up to 25 guests.

Facilities include an elegant drawing room with a unique hand painted domed ceiling and cinema; a spacious dining room seating 20 people with ease; whereas the comfortable beach room, library and games room offer a range of spaces for party members to spread out and relax.

The large well equipped kitchen is complimented by the adjacent breakfast room, separate laundry and larder.

The property has ten bedrooms-with the option of an additional two bedrooms (by arrangement) - of particular note is the superb Balinese bedroom with its ornate beamed and hessian ceiling and the romantic Lady of Shalott Room with four poster bed and hand painted fresco.

Many of the rooms, including the lantern tower, benefit from stunning views across to the Isle of Anglesey and Puffin Island.

The lawned garden has an attractive ornamental pond with a Japanese three-tier fountain surrounded by a 9-hole putting green (croquet).

The driveway extends to the rear of the property where there is a further garden area and small orchard and parking for 10 vehicles.

Llanfairfechan is a charming village, celebrated for its beautiful arts and crafts houses and enjoying the many benefits of its seaside location.

The village is well served by shops and short term guests will find that they can meet all their grocery needs within walking distance although larger parties and longer term guests may want to travel to nearby Bangor or Llandudno for a range of supermarkets.

The historic walled town of Conwy lies close by between Llandudno and Bangor, and with the West Coast train line passing through both towns, London is only 3 hours away.

Conwy is home to an elegant castle as well as other buildings of note - such as the 14th-century timber and stone Aberconwy House (Nation Trust owned), the splendid Plas Mawr and what is reputed to be the smallest house in Britain.

For art lovers, the town is home to the Royal Cambrian Academy (displaying the work of Welsh artists during the annual summer exhibition) and for children the charming Butterfly Jungle.

For walkers, there are plenty of pathways to explore - including The Cambrian Way which begins in Conwy, and winds 274 miles to Cardiff, passing through some of Wales' most wonderful upland scenery: taking in the Carneddau, the Glyders, the Snowdon massif, Cadair Idris and the Brecon Beacons.

Bodnant Garden is a further attraction in the area for visitors, providing displays of rhododendrons and laburnum in May/June and other colour throughout the year. The village station is 100 yards. Pubs ½ mile.
