Ty Newydd

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION

We are pleased to introduce the newest addition to the Amazing Places to Stay portfolio. Ty Newydd is a charming detached cottage that dates back to the 1800s and was originally the harness rooms for the neighbouring Royal Goat Hotel. Situated in the beautiful village of Beddgelert in the Snowdonia National Park, the house is close to Plas Colwyn, our other historic property in the village. The cottage can be booked separately or at a discount if booked in tandem with Plas Colwyn.

Unlike our larger properties, Ty Newydd is an intimate and cosy home- perfect for a family or smaller group of friends. Centrally positioned in the midst of the village, the cottage is a delightful base for those who want to savour some of the most beautiful landscapes in Wales. With an antique range set in the heart of the house, Ty Newydd is also the perfect place to relax after one’s adventures! Though an informal and snug residence, the living room, bedrooms, garden room and dining room are all generously proportioned, ensuring that guests have plenty of space to relax and socialize.

ABOUT THE AREA

Possibly Snowdonia’s most charming village, Beddgelert’s history allegedly dates back to 700 AD when Christian missionaries settled the area. The village has enjoyed immense popularity with tourists- particularly walkers and mountaineers- since the early Victorian period. The village has excellent local amenities including a village store, a post office, four pubs, several restaurants and cafés and an award-winning ice cream parlour.

Attractions in the village include the Grave of Gelert (the legendary dog which saved the son of Prince Llewelyn) and the Sygun Copper Mine. The property is also an ideal base for walking and climbing in Snowdonia and mountain biking in Beddgelert’s forest.

With the beautiful beaches of Criccieth and Llyn Peninsula a short drive away, the Welsh Highland station nearby and Ffestiniog and Snowdon Mountain Railways within easy reach; the house is perfectly situated for those keen to explore the many attractions of North Wales including Port Merion, Caernarfon and Porthmadog.

The property is a short drive from a number of golf courses including Porthmadog (8 miles), Criccieth (11 miles) and Caernarfon (13miles). There are many outdoor activities within easy reach and, for those who want, paintballing and clay pigeon shooting is within reach.
